Kristyn Glanville is a senior associate in the planning and environment team at Pikes & Verekers Lawyers. She regularly acts for both Councils and proponents, and has experience advising a range of sectors including Local Government, construction, development, and industry.

Kristyn regularly acts in planning appeals and enforcement of environmental offences, with experience in the Land and Environment Court, Local Court, Supreme Court, and NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, including as a prosecutor on behalf of local councils.

Kristyn has experience in a range of planning and environment litigation, regulatory investigations, advising on obtaining regulatory approvals, and due diligence on planning and environment matters. She has experience in a range of matters including planning, environmental licensing and pollution, contamination, heritage, and biodiversity conservation./p>

In 2019 and in 2020, Kristyn was a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly “30 Under 30” Awards in the Planning and Environment category, and in 2024 and 2026 was listed as a Doyle's Guide Rising Star for Environment and Planning Law.

Experience

  • Acting in the Land and Environment Court on behalf of both proponents and Councils in relation to merits appeals and judicial review under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Local Government Act 1993.
  • Acting in the Land and Environment Court on behalf of landowners appealing compensation under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
  • Acting in the Land and Environment Court in relation to prosecution matters, including under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
  • Negotiated the first enforceable undertaking entered into under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
  • Advising holders of Environment Protection Licences concerning licensing issues, pollution incident response, environmental risk management, and regulatory investigations under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
  • Advising in relation to management of contamination issues and obligations to notify under the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997.
  • Acting on behalf of defendants in regulatory investigations relating to alleged damage to European and Aboriginal heritage items.
