Jonathon is a partner in our local government and planning law team.

Jonathon has worked as a lawyer specialising in Environment and Planning Law for over 10 years. Prior to joining Pikes and Verekers, Jonathon was a partner in a specialist Environment and Planning Law Firm.

Jonathon has successfully acted for developers and consent authorities on a broad range of matters, including merit appeals, judicial review, environmental prosecutions, civil enforcement and information and privacy disputes in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Experience

  • Acting for developers and councils in Class 1 merits review proceedings concerning development and modification applications, and orders under the Local Government Act 1993 and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
  • Acting for developers and councils in Class 4 civil enforcement proceedings and judicial review proceedings.
  • Acting for developers and councils in Class 5 criminal prosecution proceedings and Class 6 criminal appeals.
  • Acting for prosecuting authorities and defendants in Local Court criminal prosecutions concerning regulatory offences.
  • Acting for prosecuting authorities in District Court appeals against conviction and sentencing.
  • Acting for public authorities in proceedings under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.
  • Acting for public authorities in proceedings under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.
  • Providing advice to land owners, developers and councils on broad a range of environmental and planning related matters.
